27 Weeks

27 weeks today, my last week in the 2nd trimester!

A little about baby this week: This week, your baby weighs almost 2 poundsand is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps evn sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Dress Up!

Grandma & Grandpa Becker got Lydia a couple princess dress up outfits for Christmas this year, including princess heels, a wand and rings! She loves it. :)

Lydia's New Big Girl Bed

We put together Lydia's toddler bed last night and she slept in it for the first time. She did really well all night, I was so happy! Here are some photos of the new bed, Lydia and the new layout of the nursery.

Lydia's First Hair Cut

On New Years day I finally decided to cut Lydia's hair, Ryan agreed we should probably cut it, since it was starting to look so funny with the left side of her head having longer hair in the back than on the right. And maybe now that it is cut it might grow faster or at least evenly! LOL! I kept her first little patch of hair and put it in the keepsake box mom got for it for Christmas. Here is a picture of her haircut:

She is growing up so much lately and saying so many new words. Every day she surprises me with another word or two. Her vocabulary has to be at least 100+ words by now. She loves reading books and talking about them. Her favorite shows are Dora the Explorer, Wonder Pets and Winnie the Pooh. (For those of you familiar with the show) She says "Dora" "Boots" and will say "Ahhhh Mannn" just like Swipper does... One of the things I love that she says is "Oh dear". It's so cute when she says it. She can say Pooh, Tigger, Owl & Eeyore. She has named her favorite stuffed animal (a huge duck from Grandma & Grandpa Becker) "Ming-Ming" and she sleeps with her every night.

She loves to cook and to be involved in whatever mom is doing. We got her a KidKraft 2-step step stool this week and she knew exactly what to do with that thing as soon as Daddy put it together. She pushes it all around the house and gets it where she wants it and climbs up. It's so funny to watch her move it around the kitchen or bathroom and then get up on it to see whats on each counter. She likes to stand on it and watch me cook and do dishes and talk to me about whats going on.

I can't believe her 2nd birthday is just around the corner. We ordered her birthday themed stuff this week, all Winnie the Pooh. I'm excited about it since she understands so much more now than she did last year. I think she will really enjoy it a lot. She is getting a toddler bed, with sheets, comforter and pillow for her birthday. She is going to be taking a lot of big steps this year to being a big girl. Getting a big girl bed, turning 2, becoming a big sister and working on potty training. This is going to be a fun, exciting and challenging year for our family I am sure. I can't wait!

I received my ebay auction for all the newborn baby boy clothes today. I was sooo pleasantly surprised!! They are all adorable and in great condition, and I am so thrilled I got so much stuff for just $100. I definitely won't be needing any newborn baby boy clothes now. ( On to 0-3 & 3-6 month shopping!) I think that 66 piece set will cover everything I need for newborn. I came with 5 pairs of size 0 shoes, 5 hats, some bibs, a swaddle me blanket, baby blanket, tons of super cute onesies, pants, shorts, and a few brand new outfits that still had the tag on them. It filled the entire top drawer of the changing dresser! And that is big and deep drawer! YAY!

I had decided to create a registry for us on amazon since they have a universal baby registry so you can add things to it from any site. I just plan on going down the list as we get the funds to buy the things we need. Mostly lots of blue things!!
