A Special Visit

After being stuck in the house for a few days it was nice to have some company today for a little while.  Lydia's Grandma & Grandpa Kennedy came to visit.  She had a great time with them and had a LOT of laughs.  Here is a video I took of her laughing at her Grandpa.

Blizzard of 2009 & First Day at the Park

Sunday was almost 75 degrees here in Gillette so we thought it might be a good day to take Lydia to the park to try out the swings for the first time.  We invited Grandma Kennedy to go along and we had a nice time.  Lydia didn't like the swings one bit but she did really enjoy the slide.  Here is my favorite picture from that afternoon..

We all woke up Monday morning to some crazy snow.  It has continued snowing until this morning and just about everything in Gillette has shut down.  Ryan was able to break out this morning after a lot of shoveling to try to make it to Walmart.  He called me while he was there to ask me to try to get ahold of the neighbors to see if they needed anything since he was told that they were going to shut the Walmart store down too shortly.  Here are some pictures of the blizzard aftermath!

Some First's - Good & Bad

Lydia got sick for the first time this last week.  Ryan came home with it 2 weeks ago, a few days later I got it and then a few days after that Lydia got it too.  She started getting a low fever on Sunday with a drippy nose which got progressivly worse until Friday morning when she started to show signs of getting better.  Her fever was gone and her appetite and energy came back.  I am so happy to have my energetic happy girl back!  She slept most of the week, she was only awake for short 30 min - 1 hour spurts and then she was back to sleeping either on my shoulder or in her crib.  She would wake up about every hour to two hours and cry for me day and night.  I was sick until Wednesday morning so it was pretty hard on both of us.   I am so thankful that we are all feeling better now.   She still has a runny nose but no fever and is acting like herself again.  She made it through completely drug free even though the doctor gave me antibiotics to give her "just in case it might get worse"... in his own words... (sigh)..   I used natural saline nose drops and wipes periodically, used the sucker to get her mucous out of her nose a couple times a day, ran a humidier in her room and used organic chest rub to help clear her breathing passages.
Here are some things I used and was really pleased with.  The saline wipes are called "Boogie Wipes" they are soft, refreshing and really get the crusty snotty stuff off while depositing saline to help soothe the dryness.  The humidifier is by Graco and was really affordable for how nice it is.  You can set the exact humidity level from 20-90% and it atomatically shuts off when it reaches the setting you choose and comes back on when it dips 2% below the desired setting.  It has a quiet setting for night times and a medium and high and the tank hold a lot.  Most of the parts are all dishwasher safe too which is great.

Here are some links to some great products to have on hand:

Organic Electrolyte Drink (PediVance) - organic with no articial flavors, colors or preservatives!
Temporal Thermometer - Instant Reading and no sticking it mouth or arm pits - yay!

Okay on a really good note - Lydia took 3 big steps today all by herself!!  She really enjoys walking and I know it won't be very long now that she will be walking all by herself.

Here are some recent pictures.  The ones where she is undressed was while she was really sick and the others were taken today.  You can see she still has her runny nose.

Height & Weight

Since we did not go in for Lydia's vaccination appointment when she turned 12 months I weighed and measured her today.

Weight:  18 lbs.   - 5th Percentile
Height:   28" Tall -  Between the10th-25th Percentile
Head Circumfrence:  18" - Between the 50th-75th Percentile

So tiny!!

I took some silly pictures of her today while she was crawling around in her diaper.  Here they are!  I told her to SMILE! and this is what she did...

And here is a nice little mess we made!
